Comedian Bob Zany wrote an article in Phi Kappa Phi Forum Summer 2010 about "dying." He joked about Oscar the Cat, the therapy pet at the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Providence, R.I., who allegedly curls up next to patients right before they pass away. He would add that according to the staffers, this allowed the patient to die with comfort and dignity, unlike the other nursing- home pet, Slobbers the Great Dane.
In another event, a waiter told him and his wife this story. It's about when his best friend was dying. The waiter and his friend spent a lot of time in the hospital watching stand-up comedy on TV and that moments before his friend passed, he saw Bob Zany's act and literally died laughing. Or, at the very least, with a smile on his face.
